Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account or using Occasionat, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app. If you use Occasionat on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorised to bind that business.
Who we are
Occasionat is an events‑services marketplace operated by HAANK ("Occasionat", "we", "us"). We connect customers planning events with independent providers of event services. We are a technology platform only.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract to use Occasionat.
Your account
Provide accurate, complete information and keep your login details secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account, and you must tell us promptly of any unauthorised use.
Our role — a platform, not a party
Occasionat is only a technology platform that introduces customers to independent providers. We are not a party to any booking or agreement between a customer and a provider, we do not provide the event services ourselves, and we do not employ, supervise, direct, or control any provider. IMPORTANT: Occasionat is not responsible or liable for the events or services — including their quality, safety, suitability, timeliness, delivery, cancellation, or non‑performance — or for anything that happens at, during, or as a result of an event. Any issue, loss, injury, or dispute relating to a service or event is solely between the customer and the provider. We do not guarantee any provider, service, listing, price, or outcome; any licence check, verification, or badge is based only on information providers give us and is not our endorsement or warranty.
Providers
If you list as a provider you must: hold all licences and permits your services require; keep listings, prices, and availability accurate; honour confirmed bookings; deal fairly with customers; and comply with all applicable laws. Membership is AED 500 per year (first year free); we take no commission on your bookings, so you keep 100% of your service price (less your payment processor's fees). To accept online card payments you must complete payout onboarding with our payment provider, Stripe. You are solely responsible for your own taxes, including VAT where it applies to you.
Bookings
A booking request becomes confirmed when the provider accepts it, or when you accept a provider's quote. You are responsible for the accuracy of the details you submit, such as the date, guest count, and requirements.
Payments
Payments are made directly between the customer and the provider — either offline (cash or bank transfer arranged between you) or, where available, online by card processed by our third‑party payment provider (Stripe), which pays the provider. Occasionat does not take a commission from the service price. IMPORTANT: Occasionat is not a payment processor, does not hold, control, or guarantee your funds, and is not responsible or liable for any payment, non‑payment, underpayment, refund, chargeback, fraud, or payment dispute. Refunds for a service are the provider's responsibility. You make and accept payments — including any cash or bank transfer to a provider — entirely at your own risk, and you are responsible for verifying a provider before paying. Where a provider passes on the card processing cost, a small card fee is shown at checkout before you pay; we never see or store your full card details.
Cancellations & refunds
Cancellations, rescheduling, balances, and refunds for a booked service are governed by the provider's own terms and are arranged between the customer and the provider. Occasionat is not obliged to refund you for a provider's service; we can help facilitate a resolution, but the outcome is between you and the provider. Membership fees are non‑refundable except where the law requires otherwise.
Fees & taxes
The only fee Occasionat charges providers is the annual membership. Customers are not charged a platform fee (only the optional card fee above, if a provider passes it on). Each user is responsible for their own taxes arising from their use of Occasionat.
Reviews & content
Customers may review a provider after a completed booking; reviews must be honest and based on genuine experience. You keep ownership of content you upload (photos, reviews, messages) but grant us a worldwide, royalty‑free licence to host and display it to operate the service. Do not upload content you do not have the rights to, or that is unlawful, misleading, or objectionable.
Acceptable use
Do not use Occasionat for anything unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or abusive, and do not post objectionable content or harass others. You can report content or block users in the app. We may remove content, or suspend or terminate accounts, that breach these terms.
Disputes between users
Disputes about a service are between the customer and the provider, who should try to resolve them directly. Occasionat provides reporting tools and may, at its discretion, help mediate, but is not responsible for the underlying service.
Disclaimers
Occasionat is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error‑free, or that any provider or service will meet your expectations.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Occasionat and HAANK are not liable for the acts, omissions, or services of providers or customers, or for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the platform fees you paid to Occasionat in the 12 months before the claim.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Occasionat and HAANK against claims and losses arising from your use of the app, your content, your bookings or services, or your breach of these terms or the law.
Suspension & termination
You may stop using Occasionat and delete your account at any time (Profile → Delete account). We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or to protect users or the platform.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will update the date shown and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Occasionat after changes take effect means you accept them.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of the UAE have jurisdiction over any dispute — without prejudice to any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
